I am a Mom of two adult children in their twenties, so I am an empty nester, I was laid off from my accounting job 14 months ago and decided to start my own business last May. I’ve always been crafty, I used to make artist teddy bears and sell them and teach classes but wanted something different where I could really use my creativity. I did study interior decorating at night school for four years but decided I wanted to design, make and market my own products instead of working full time being a decorator.
I am learning to use the big power tools, I love my husband’s air compressor staple gun. My husband helps me in my business my cutting all my boards for me. We garage sale a lot in the summer and collect up old cork bulletin boards, vintage frames and other treasures that we can up cycle into new products.
I started making memory boards because Alzheimer’s runs in my family and I have a huge memory board in my office filled with all of my favorite pictures of all my family and friends. I feel it’s a lovely way to celebrate your favorite memories and mementoes that you have stored away like jewelry, photos, sports cards, vintage buttons, whatever is your passion.
I make a lot of custom wedding memory boards, new baby, sports and any other requested theme; I’m only limited by the fabric selection. As my passion is fabric, I also sew a bit, pillows and do other small upholstery projects like custom head boards. I’ve recently added magnet boards, barrette holders and I have a new line of jewelry display boards coming out soon, plus so many other ideas, it keeps me up at night!
